Sony unveils ‘Project Q’ 8-inch DualSense controller. here’s everything you need to know

Sony revealed its latest portable gaming device on May 24, 2023 at the PlayStation Showcase virtual event. Internally dubbed “Project Q,” according to a demonstration by Sony PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan, the device features an 8-inch high-definition screen and includes functionality reminiscent of the DualSense wireless controller.

Geoff Keighley, the mastermind behind The Game Awards, has taken to Twitter to share his excitement about the upcoming gaming device’s features. With the growing popularity of handheld consoles like the Steam Deck, keeping a close eye on Sony’s latest creation will provide a glimpse into the future of portable gaming.

According to inquirer.net, Sony’s Project Q Designed to establish a connection with your PlayStation 5, allowing you to access and play its games. However, this requires your PS5 to be powered on and connected to the Q via a wireless Internet connection. Unlike the Steam Deck, the Project Q doesn’t let you play PS5 games while on the go.

To play PS5 games outside your designated gaming area, you’ll need to bring your PS5 along, have it turned on, and ensure a stable Wi-Fi connection. It’s important to note that, as of now, Project Q doesn’t offer any cloud gaming capabilities. Nonetheless, it proves to be an excellent option for enjoying PS5 games in places other than your bedroom.

According to Keighley, Project Q will feature a dynamic 8-inch LCD screen with the ability to deliver 1080p resolution at 60 fps, which will ensure stunning visuals and seamless gameplay.

Ahead, Sony’s Project Q The PS5 will incorporate elements from the DualSense controller, including haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. The haptic feedback technology represents an advanced iteration of the traditional rumble pack found in previous PlayStation controllers.

Despite the anticipation surrounding Sony’s upcoming handheld device, it will face stiff competition from established players like the Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck. One of the major advantages of the Nintendo Switch is its ability to offer portable gaming without the need for an internet connection. Players can download the game digitally or use physical cartridges. Additionally, detachable controllers, known as Joy-Cons, allow for flexible gameplay options and multiplayer experiences, as in games such as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Sony’s recently announced Project Q, a handheld gaming device that connects to playstation 5 Via Wi-Fi, it aims to offer gaming away from the confines of one’s room. However, as of now, no specific release date or price has been provided for Sony Project Q. Based on similar gaming consoles, it is likely to fall within the price range of around $300 to $500.
