Meanwhile, Jiah Khan’s mother also reacted to Sooraj’s acquittal and told CNN News18 that she will continue to fight for justice for her late daughter. “I will not give up hope, I will keep fighting,” she told us, adding that she would even approach the High Court or the Supreme Court if need be.

The special CBI court on Friday acquitted Sooraj Pancholi in the Jiah Khan death case due to lack of evidence. Sooraj was present in the court along with his mother and veteran actress Zarina Wahab.

In June 2013, Jiah Khan was found hanged at her home by her mother, Rabia Khan. Khan also reportedly wrote a 6-page letter describing her relationship with Sooraj Pancholi. After Jiah’s death, her mother accused Sooraj and his family of ‘misbehaving’ with Jiah. After this, a case of abetment to suicide was registered against him. Suraj was also arrested but was later released on bail.

Jiah’s mother moved the Bombay High Court after Sooraj was granted bail, seeking transfer of the probe to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The central probe agency filed a charge sheet in December 2015 in which they accused Pancholi of abetment to suicide under section 306 of the Indian Penal Code.
