Three days before Independence Day- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has given its leaders a to-do list to ensure that the flavor of Patriotic Week is around August 15.

what’s in the card

BJP President JP Nadda has given a list of work to be done by party leaders and workers to celebrate the Centre’s Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav program. This includes running a “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign from August 9 to August 15, and providing precautionary COVID vaccine doses to party MPs, MLAs and public representatives free of cost over the next 75 days.

The BJP president has asked the party leaders to ensure publicity of the program from August 9 to August 11, create an atmosphere of patriotism, take out the tricolor yatra and put up hoardings in public places like markets, streets and fair grounds. A source said, “From August 11 to August 13, there should be a Prabhat Pheri in every ward and village with the recitation of Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram and Vande Mataram.”

The Prime Minister, after flagging off the Dandi March again on March 12, 2021 and paying tribute to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, said that the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ means the elixir of energy (nectar), of freedom. Inspired by the elixir of freedom fighters, new ideas, new resolutions and self-reliance,” a leader said, reading out a communication sent to all state unit chiefs.

“From August 13 to August 15, 2022, more than 200 million families across the country will hoist the national flag,” the communication said. In Uttar Pradesh alone, the target is to hoist the flag in more than 3.18 crore households.

In the instructions sent by Nadda, it has also been said that the national flag should be hoisted not only in all government buildings but also at the residences of government employees, advocates, police posts and educational institutions.

“All offices of Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), youth organisations, monasteries of saints and social institutions should be approached for unfurling the national flag. Every house should have a national flag, which we have been told,” the source said.

Nadda has also directed that the national flag be made available by the Union Ministry of Culture at all post offices as well as at four types of e-commerce websites and other sales centers.

Apart from this, statues and monuments of great patriots across the country will also be cleaned from August 11 to 15.

Yuva Morcha will organize Tiranga Yatra in every district on 10th, 11th and 12th August. The photographs of the hoisting of the national flag are to be uploaded on the website of the government specially created for the event,” the source said.

The party has appointed National General Secretary Vinod Tawde as the convener of this program.

The second program that the party is going to launch is to ensure a booster or precautionary Covid vaccine dose for the maximum possible number of people.

“For a precautionary dose, efforts should be made by the party at all levels so that maximum number of people can be vaccinated. All MPs, MLAs, public representatives and party functionaries will regularly visit vaccination centers and create public awareness through hoardings, press conferences and social media,” Nadda told party leaders, according to sources. National General Secretary Tarun Chugh has been made the convener of this program.

The Ministry of Culture is playing its role

On 20 May 2022, the Cabinet Secretary chaired a meeting of the Committee of Secretaries with all Chief Secretaries on the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign and outlined a number of tasks to be implemented by them. This involves the active participation of all employees, State PSUs and Self Help Groups and their family members. Corporate and private organizations should also be encouraged, it said.

There are instructions to use the websites of all State Governments to provide the link to Amrit Mahotsav Har Ghar Tricolor Corner. It also aims to reach out to the panchayats and distribute the national flag in every village. “The vast network of fair price shops will be featured with messages about the program as a distribution/sale point of flags and state transport buses. Tolls and checkpoints will be branded and used for pamphlets,” reads the order from the Ministry of Culture.
