Vadodara: A special public prosecutor has been appointed for the Harni boat tragedy case. The police said on Tuesday that advocate R C Kodekar will represent their case in the court. The special investigations team (SIT) formed to investigate the case has started acquiring the necessary documents from the accused to gather strong evidence against the accused.
The police said that they have raided the properties of Paresh Shah and Gopal Shah who are the key accused in the case. Sources in the police department said that it will take some time to investigate the firms floated by the accused for operating the boating facility at Harni Lake as some of them are not cooperating with the investigators.
The investigating officials are yet to get possession of the account books of Kotia Projects, Dolphin Entertainment and Tristar Enterprise. “Alpesh Bhatt of Dolphin Entertainment is yet to reveal how he landed the boating contract despite not having any experience,” the police added. The police have till date arrested 14 persons and six are yet to be tracked down.
Twelve students and two teachers of the New Sunrise School, who were on a picnic, drowned when an overloaded boat capsized in the Harni lake in the city on January 18. The police later booked 19 persons including the partners of Kotia Projects for culpable homicide not amounting to murder and attempt to commit culpable homicide.
