‘Speeding’ bike with 2 teens knocks down sr citizen; all 3 dead | Mumbai News – Times of India

MUMBAI: Three people died after a bike knocked down a senior citizen at Ghatkopar late Monday evening. While a 62-year-pedestrian lost his life, two teenagers who were on the bike also died in the accident, the police said.
The biker lost control and rammed the two-wheeler into the senior citizen, Suresh Rama Karate, who was crossing the road near Sahi hotel located at Ashok Nagar on LBS Marg.
The biker was overspeeding at the time, the police said, adding that the two youngsters – biker Ahmed Raza Ansari (19) and pillion rider Muzaffar Hussain Shah(19) – and the senior citizen sustained serious injuries.
Passers-by rushed the three injured persons to the BMC-run Rajawadi Hospital at Ghatkopar where all three persons were declared dead before admission.
Officials of Ghatkopar police station, which has jurisdiction over the accident spot, were in the process of registering a criminal offence and completing the post-mortem formalities at Rajawadi Hospital at the time of filing this news report late on Monday. The bodies of the three deceased persons were still to be handed over to their families.
An offence has been registered against the deceased biker under Section 304 of the Indian Penal Code for causing death due to negligence.
