Dibrugarh: In a major security lapse, a spy camera pen, cell phone and other incriminating items were found in the NSA cell of the high-security Dibrugarh Central Jail where Waris Punjab De chief, Amritpal Singh, and nine of his associates are currently lodged, sending law-enforcing agencies in a tizzy.
The prison staff conducted a search of the jail premises on Saturday morning, leading to the discovery of several unauthorised items in the possession of the detainees.Among the items seized were a smartphone with a SIM card, a keypad phone, a TV remote with a keyboard, a spy-cam pen, pen drives, bluetooth headphones and speakers and a smartwatch.
In response to the breach, DGP GP Singh stated on X that following information about unauthorised activities taking place in the said cell, additional CCTV cameras were installed in the public area of NSA block and a search by the jail staff on the premises of NSA cell early Saturday morning led to the recoveries.
