Thiruvananthapuram: State has countered the Centre’s “most financially unhealthy state” jibe, saying that the remark was made overlooking that the Union govt itself had a dismal record of reining in its debt.
In its reply to the Centre’s note filed in Supreme Court, state govt said the Centre was presenting the states’ debt as the greatest vulnerability for “sound public financial management”, diverting attention from that the Centre had grossly underperformed in its management of public finances – even in comparison to several emerging countries.
