State Signs Pact with JNU for Special Centre for Odia Studies | Bhubaneswar News – Times of India

Bhubaneswar: The state govt signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Jawaharlal Nehru University on Sunday for establishment of a Biju Patnaik Special Centre for Odia Studies in JNU.
The centre will offer a postgraduate programme in Odia studies and studies on former chief minister Biju Patnaik’s leadership and governance, Jagannath culture and manuscriptology of ancient Odia literature.The state will provide a one-time assistance of Rs 10 crore for the centre, official sources said.
JNU vice-chancellor Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit on Sunday met chief minister Naveen Patnaik at Naveen Niwas here before signing of the MoU between her and higher education secretary Aravind Agrawal.
The focus areas include international teaching and research in Odia language and literature, exploring historical maritime linkages of Kalinga empire with Southeast Asia, diasporic connections and promoting contemporary Odia culture through publications and collaborative research.
