UP Jal Nigam officials on Thursday apprised District Magistrate S Rajalingam of the fact when he visited the Ramana STP, which has a capacity to treat 50 MLD wastewater, while the sewage discharge through the Assi drain is 77 MLD.
The DM conducted site inspection of various projects on Thursday. While inspecting Ramna, he asked the project manager of STP whether the drains of Assi have been completely tapped. The project manager told the DM that the capacity of this plant is only 50 MLD, while about 70 to 77 MLD sewage comes out of Assi drain. For additional water purification, the foundation stone of 55 MLD new STP project in Bhagwanpur has been laid by the Prime Minister and its funds have also been approved. He said that after the construction of the new STP, the drains would be completely closed and the sewer water would not fall into the Ganges.
After that DM inspected the crusher plant in Ramna area, where pieces of broken concrete, debris of bricks had fallen. He expressed displeasure over the officials not reaching the spot.
NTPC has set up a factory in the area to make coal from plastic waste. DM also inspected this factory, where he saw the production process and got information about making coal from plastic waste. Along with this, the presentation of the production was also given through video. He also saw the coal samples being prepared and assured the officials of full cooperation of the district administration in case of any problem.
Along with this, the DM also inspected the construction work of transit hostel, barrack and economic crime research area in the police line premises.
He also inspected the ongoing construction work in Rifle Shooting Range at a cost of Rs 5.25 crore. The work will be completed this month.
