GCC and Hybrid Cloud to Improve Security, Compliance, Efficiency and Agility of IT Operations for Government of India

Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the selection of a Managed Service Provider (MSP) for setting up and managing a Government Community Cloud (GCC) and Hybrid Cloud.

Several companies are expected to submit proposals in response to the RFP. STPI will evaluate the proposals and select the best qualified company as MSP for GCC and Hybrid Cloud.

GCC and Hybrid Cloud are key initiatives for this STPIWhich is a Government of India organization that promotes the development of software and IT-enabled services (ITES) industry in the country.

what’s in the works

STPI will constitute a Core Committee of STPI officers for overall project governance and monitoring. The last date for uploading bids is June 26.

The RFP specifies several requirements for the MSP, including:

  • Experience in setting up and managing cloud computing environments
  • A proven track record of security and compliance
  • Ability to provide a high level of service to government agencies

The broad objectives of the RFP are:

  • Installation and Management of GCC and Hybrid Cloud in existing STPI Data Centers.
  • To establish STPI as a leading MeitY listed Cloud Service Provider.
  • To provide start-ups, enterprises and government departments with an end-to-end IT platform with agility and reliability through advanced cloud services (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
  • Facilitating start-up ecosystem by hosting digital products on STPI platform.
  • Leveraging STPI’s Edge DC locations to provide applicable cloud services.
  • Public-private partnerships (revenue sharing) to capitalize on industry expertise.
  • Generate maximum revenue per kW/per square foot by providing a bouquet of cloud services from existing data center facilities.
  • To establish STPI as a leading player for cloud services to serve Indian and offshore customers.

GCC will be a secure and reliable platform for government agencies to store and process their data. It is expected to be a valuable resource for government agencies and can help improve the security, compliance, efficiency and agility of government IT operations. It can also help reduce costs and improve service delivery.

Hybrid cloud is a combination of public cloud and private cloud. Public cloud provides scalability and flexibility, while private cloud provides security and control. Hybrid cloud is a good option for government agencies that need the best of both worlds.
