Students Should Learn Life Skills To Overcome Challenges: Irai Anbu | Coimbatore News – Times of India

Coimbatore: Students should learn life skills to face challenges in life, said former chief secretary of the state Dr V Irai Anbu on Saturday. He also called on students to learn new things throughout their lifetime and inculcate the habit of reading.
Addressing students at the 33rd graduation ceremony at the Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science at Nava India here on the day, Anbu said convocation was just an endorsement of the little knowledge gained at the educational institutions.“To know the nuances of life, it is significant to learn life skills. These educational certificates are mere passports, but without a visa overseas travel is impossible. Similarly, the little information learned is insufficient.”
He said the true qualification was in gaining experience through exploration. “Discipline, courage, confidence, smart work, learning from mistakes, awareness of happenings and time management are pivotal for the attainment of experience. Learning is a continuous process that takes place throughout the lifetime. Hence, young minds should be driven by the urge for more knowledge and achieve wisdom to evolve as a unique personality.”
He said creating an impression was very much important, particularly the first impression. “Hence, developing an attractive personality in terms of skills, knowledge and wisdom is essential. For any action, good health is mandatory without which any progress is valueless. Leading a healthy life is the key force of strength that is inclusive of both mental and physical health.” Anbu handed over graduation certificates to 1,736 students on the day. tnn
