Jailed alleged conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar has sent a Rs 100 crore legal notice to TV serial actor Chahat Khanna for causing “damage” and “irreparable damage” to his reputation with his allegations. The notice comes after Chahat claimed in an interview with a national daily that she was tricked into meeting him in Tihar Jail, where he knelt down before her and proposed marriage. When she told him that she was already married and had two children, she was told that her husband was not the right man for her.

Chahat also said that it was only after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) summoned him in an alleged extortion case involving him that Chandrasekhar came to know about former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J.K. Jayalalithaa does not have nephews.

He also testified before the Patiala House Court on January 3 in the Chandrashekhar extortion case. The legal notice sent to him by advocate Anant Malik on behalf of Chandrasekhar said: “At the outset it is clarified that the present notice is not in relation to the statements made by you to the investigating agencies and is being issued against you only.” Statements made by you to various media houses/social media platforms/pages.

“In your interview, you (Khanna) have falsely and inaccurately claimed that you were forced to enter Tihar Jail to meet our client, wherein he ‘got down on one knee’ to propose to you.

“It is your own statement, and what is on record that you accompanied one Ms. Angel in May 2018 and went to Delhi with her to meet our client, who is only there to finance your projects, films, shows etc. Was being taken. Pursue your career in the Indian film industry.”

The notice states: “Even if you were compelled to meet with our client, you must have had a very good reason for keeping this information with you for approximately five years…. You have intentionally acted viciously.” Has done lies and lies, deliberately designed to damage our client’s reputation and goodwill just to gain some publicity and be relevant on various social media platforms.

“Your false and malicious statements are in themselves defamatory and have caused great mental agony… Our client is entitled to compensation for the pain, anxiety and damage caused by your undirected acts and therefore to pay you a sum of Rs.100/- called upon to do.” Ten million…”

On 2 February, Chandrasekhar released a letter to the media in which he claimed that he never proposed to Chahat when she visited him in Tihar Jail. Chandrashekhar, lodged in Mandoli Jail in the capital, has said in the letter that she had come for a business meeting in connection with a film production proposal, which is also recorded in her statement to the ED.

“I am not interested in dating or being with women who are already married or have children. I am not desperate like these gold diggers like Chahat. Chahat, my association with Nikki was only for professional reasons for which the meetings were held. And advance payment was made,” he said in his letter.

Investigation underway in a money laundering case involving Chandrashekhar and Bollywood actors Jacqueline Fernandez and Nora Fatehi, who has also been questioned in connection with the case.
