Suryakumar Yadav might take few more days to get match fit: BCCI source | Cricket News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Suryakumar Yadav, the top T20 batter in the world, will miss a few more IPL games while he heals from a sports hernia operation. The National Cricket Academy (NCA) will be monitoring his progress.
The Mumbai Indians, in which Surya plays, have lost their first two games in the league and he has not appeared in any of their games.
“Surya is making very good progress and very soon he will be back playing for MI.However, he might have to sit out for a few more games, having missed the first two,” a BCCI source said.
Even though MI is without Surya, the BCCI doesn’t want to take any chances regarding the big hitter’s health because he will likely be a key player in the forthcoming T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the USA in June.
“For BCCI, the main concern is if he is on course for World T20 which he is. Obviously he will play for MI but after a sports hernia surgery, he can’t be rushed,” the source said.
Due to his wide range of shots, the 33-year-old is frequently compared to the legendary AB de Villiers of South Africa. In the format, he had an incredible strike rate of 171.55.
Yadav has made appearances for India in 60 Twenty20 Internationals, amassing 2141 runs, four hundred among them.
On Monday, MI will play Rajasthan Royals in their third match, their first of the season at home in Mumbai.
