on the surface, Sweet Karam Coffee A simple, straight forward and heartwarming tale of women enjoying the time of their lives. But like the crores of onions that Kaveri has cut over the years to serve her family, there are layers to the plot as well. For starters, if Kaveri reflects on her past being much more than what she thinks it could have been, Nivi is worried about the uncertainty of her future while Sundari wants to enjoy the present.

Likewise, the reason for this impulsive decision to travel is different for each of them; Nivi wants a break from her relationship and boyfriend who doesn’t take her career decisions seriously, Sundari has a hidden but touching motive, and Kaveri just wants to prove it to her husband He Can do it. Sweet Karam Coffee, True to its title, it is a beautiful amalgamation of the desires, insecurities, passion, inhibitions and love of these women.

The series has some shortcomings. But just as the scenery compensates for the uneven roads during a journey, so do the dialogues, the characters and the impressive cast. Nivi cares about their relationship despite cricket being everything to her, and the reason for this dilemma is explained with a backstory – something that the other two characters also get to know. While Kaveri’s flashback is not that interesting, Sundari’s history and the reason for her visit is a spectacular revelation at the end. Even the mediocre parts that don’t really make much of an impact on us include small subplots that mainly work; The scene where Kaveri and Sundari discuss their sex life, or when Kaveri and Nivea talk about sitcoms Friend And mom thinks it’s a Vijay-Suriya Tamil film! Even the one-dimensional male characters have interesting characteristics of their own as the series progresses.

Shiv Ananth’s dialogues, Govind Vasanth’s music, and visuals capturing the confines of his home and the vast outdoors add value to this series which is built on stellar performances, especially that of veteran actor Lakshmi. It includes a surprise cameo from a star (who is part of another Prime Video show) and nice touches like an exotic couple named Julia and Roberts (maybe a hat tip to Julia Roberts). eat Pray Love,

Sweet Karam Coffee It may have too many sub-plots and characters, and it may bite off more than it can chew when it tries to drive home the message, but that doesn’t take away the warmth of a good story.
