Three persons, who have been identified as Krishnamurthy (40), Balachandran (32) and Sakthivel (22), lost their lives in the incident which took place on Saturday evening.
Krishnamurthy was the owner of the house and the other two deceased were his relatives.
Cuddalore police said, “Krishnamurthy was the owner of the new house for which a new septic tank was being built. The other two were Krishnamurthy’s relatives and all three entered the tank yesterday and did some patch-up work. Unfortunately, the poisonous The smoke killed them.” ,
Police have registered a case under section 174 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in the incident.
Police said the bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem.
Further investigation of the matter is underway.
