Teacher Looking To Buy Car Loses ₹14.5l In Fraud | Ludhiana News – Times of India

Ludhiana: A city-based teacher, who was looking to buy a car online, lost Rs 14.5 lakh in a cyber fraud. The accused posed as a seller, made the victim see a car of an unknown person and took the money. When the victim went to get possession of the car, he found that the person to whom the money was sent was someone else.
On the complaint of a Tibba road resident, who requested anonymity, the police have registered a case against Jagmeet Singh of Greater Kailash-II of Delhi.
The complainant said he had seen an advertisement of Toyota Innova Crista on OLX, an online marketing platform. He liked the car and contacted the mobile number provided in the ad. The person shared details of the car. He told the seller that he would return to India after 20 days and would contact him again.
“After 20 days, the person called me up and asked if I still wanted to get the car. I said I want to purchase it and asked him to make him check the car once. He said he will inform me when I can see the car. Next day, the man called me up again and said that the car was owned by his brother who is not willing to sell it anymore. But the next day, the man called up again, saying that one of his friends, Saurav, also owns a similar car who wants to sell it. The caller provided me with the address and details of the car and asked me to visit there to see the car,” said the complainant.
