Teen hospitalized after being attacked by friends with cricket bat in Bengaluru | Bengaluru News – Times of India

BENGALURU: An 18-year-old boy who objected to his friend for passing remarks about his weight was brutally assaulted by the latter and two others with a cricket bat, causing injuries on his head, hands and legs in north Bengaluru. The suspects have been secured.
Sharath (name changed), a resident of Kalahasti Nagar in T Dasarahalli, told Bagalagunte police in his complaint that he was attacked by his friends Aditya, Raju and Chinni, all aged between 19 to 22 years, who stayed in the same area as his.The alleged assault took place around 2.30 pm on Monday.
Sharath told police that Aditya would call him ‘Dumma’ (fatso) and harassed him whenever he passed by. Sharath had warned Aditya not to call him so but the latter did not relent. The latter’s friends would often laugh at Sharath. A humiliated Sharath warned Aditya that he would complain to the latter’s parents about it.
Aditya warned him of dire consequences. Sharath, who works with a decorator, had come home to have lunch on the ill-fated day and was returning to work on his scooter when Aditya, along with Raju and Chinni, accosted him near the Govt School on 7th cross in Kalahasti Nagar and picked a fight with him.
They claimed that Sharath rammed Aditya with his scooter. When Sharath denied it, Aditya allegedly assaulted him. Raju and Chinni hit him with their hands, while Aditya took a cricket bat and hit Sharath on the head. When Sharath collapsed on the road, Aditya hit him on his hands and legs.
Sharath has sustained a one-inch wide injury on his skull. When locals intervened, the trio escaped. An injured Sharath was rushed to a nearby hospital where he underwent treatment and is back home.
After Sharath lodged his complaint, police found that the accused were on the run. With the help of their parents, police managed to secure all three on Wednesday morning.
A case is registered under various sections of IPC, including 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means).
