Ranchi : Senior RJD Leader and Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Tejashwi Yadav said on Sunday that he urged the Jharkhand government to conduct a caste-based survey in the state, as is being done in Bihar, as the exercise would help determine the “real condition of the people”.
Yadav, who is in Jharkhand since Saturday to strengthen RJD’s base in the state, was addressing party workers at a meeting in Ranchi.
“I met the Chief Minister of Jharkhand Hemant Soren on Saturday and urged them to conduct a caste-based survey like in Bihar. The exercise will help in determining the real status of people like daily wage labourers, landless persons, sanitation workers and rickshaw pullers.
The RJD leader said, “Welfare schemes cannot be implemented properly until some scientific data is available. The Chief Minister of Jharkhand has assured us that he will look into the matter.”

Later talking to media persons, Yadav said that efforts are being made to strengthen the RJD, a part of the JMM-led UPA coalition in the state, as this will strengthen the ruling coalition.
“Our main objective is to stop the BJP from gaining mass in the state,” he said.
Meanwhile, dismissing Yadav’s allegations, BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo said that RJD, Congress and JMM have entered into an alliance to keep the BJP away through unfair means.
“People will teach them a lesson in 2024 elections. RJD will be wiped out from the state by the voters not only in Jharkhand but also in Bihar,” he said.
