Telangana: 26-yr-old tries to strangulate girlfriend after row, arrested | Hyderabad News – Times of India

HYDERABAD: A 26-year-old chicken shop worker has been arrested for beating his girlfriend, a beedi worker, and dumping her on the road in Jakranpally in Nizamabad on Saturday night. The girl in now on ventilator support. The accused has been arrested.
The accused, Ghosuddin, who is from Jakranpally, initially claimed the girl, Teja Sri, who is from the same neighbourhood, had jumped from his bike after an argument. But after the girl’s family lodged a complaint against Ghosuddin, he confessed to assaulting her. Cops said the two had an argument after he suspected her character for staying overnight during an outstation wedding. Both families were aware of their relationship, cops said.
On Saturday around 8.30pm, Teja Sri told her family she was going out to roll beedis. But when she didn’t return home, her family began to search for her and found her around 11.30 pm lying unconscious on the road near her aunt’s house in Jakranpally. She was taken to a hospital in Armoor and then to Nizamabad government hospital.
“We have registered a case under SC&ST (POA) Act and charged him with attempt to murder. He tried to strangle her. After she became unconscious, he dumped her in the village. There is no communal angle,” the commissioner said.
