Thane corporation waves off rent, deposit amount collected from mandals for eracting pandals | Thane News – Times of India

THANE: The Thane Municipal Corporation has waved off rent and deposit amount required to be collected from mandals within the municipality for erecting pandals or pavilions in the city, commissioner Abhijit Bangar said on Thursday.
It may be noted that Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) had requested the municipal corporation a few days back to exempt mandals from paying the fees citing their weak financial condition, party spokesperson Naresh Mhaske said.
Shinde had also convened a meeting with mandal representatives wherein it was decided to not to charge any rent or deposit from the mandals. This was to be implemented in the municipal jurisdiction following which the commissioner made the announcement, a civic official said.
The corporation has also appealed to mandals to secure relevant permissions online to seek permission to erect temporary pavilions in public places.
“If the application is made online, the mandal members can save the hassle of visiting each of the departments for seeking the mandatory no objection certificates. The application can be forwarded till September 10. The members will have to share a copy of last year’s permission, rough map of the spot where the pandal will be erected along with details of office bearers in addition to fire safety compliance certification,” an official explained.
The corporation has urged mandals to erect temporary pavilions for festivals like Dahihandi, Ganeshotsav and Navratri only after obtaining necessary permission and complying with the TMC policy. The corporation has also directed the mandals to fix a copy of permission letter at the mandap or on its façade, else face legal action.
Mandals can also contact the local assistant municipal commissioner or connect on 8097192868.
