Thane’s Special Lok Adalat settles 130 motor accident claims, awarding compensation of Rs 10.7 crore. Thane News – Times of India

Thane: As many as 130 motor accident compensation claims were settled and a collective compensation of Rs 10.7 crore was given to the victims at a special event. Lok Adalat organized in Thaneofficials said on Tuesday.
The special Lok Adalat was organized to hear cases pending before the Thane Motor Accident Claims Tribunal and was conducted under the guidance of Abhay Mantri, Principal District and Sessions Judge and Chairman of the Thane District Legal Services Authority (TDLSA).
“130 pending cases were settled and compensation was given to the victims or heirs of the deceased in various road accidents. The highest compensation awarded was Rs 63 lakh, while in some other independent cases also there was a settlement of Rs 50 lakh and Rs 42 lakh,’ said Ishwar Suryavanshi, secretary, TDLSA.
Suryavanshi said that arbitration in about 48 cases was conducted virtually, in which claimants who were unable to be present physically participated through video conference.
