Amravati: Full police protection has been given to a businessman who has complained of receiving threats on social media for supporting Nupur Sharma.
The police had provided security at the businessman’s residence a few days back after he claimed to have received threatening calls from an unknown person. According to the official, the decision to increase the security cover was taken after a constable posted for the trader’s security suspected that six men on two bikes were keeping an eye on him.
Senior police officers are probing how the movement of the trader on his way to the shop is being monitored. Police is also examining the CCTV footage installed on the road.
The police had detained some people following the trader’s complaint and later released them after taking preventive action. Police are also looking for those who threatened others and took preventive action against them.
Although it is said that more than 10 people have received threats in the city, but till now only three names including traders have come to the notice of the police. Only the traders have come forward to register the complaint.
