RWAs generally refuse membership to residents who are not aligned with them and delay elections to remain in office. Residents claimed that even after the election, the rival faction filed several petitions before the registrar and the courts to delay the process to stay in office.
“Once people become RWA office-bearers, they are often not inclined to transfer power to a new body after completion of their term or elections. They use all possible means to maintain their position at the cost of the overall development of the society,” said a resident of Sector 48.
While hearing the complaint of encroachment on residential plots in Kanhai, the minister directed the district administration to vacate the land by removing the encroachment before the next complaint committee meeting.
