Threat Calls To Gadkari: Accused Tries To End Life | Nagpur News – Times of India

NAGPUR: Jayesh Kantha, who had twice made extortion calls from Belagavi jail to Union minister Nitin Gadkari’s office demanding huge sums, has been booked for attempting to commit suicide inside Nagpur central prison.
Sources said Kantha swallowed a wire inside the special security protection cell and raised an alarm about having gulped a nail.
The former active operative of the banned Popular front of India (PFI) was rushed to government medical college and hospital.
Doctors said Kantha had swallowed a wire and not a nail. He was discharged after being kept under observation for some time.
Having escaped from Belagavi jail and making several such attempts in the past, Kantha is known to hatch such plans by claiming to be ill or attempting suicide in jail.
Senior inspector of Dhantoli police station Prabhavati Yekurkar said an offence was registered against Kantha for swallowing the wire.
