Three die as truck falls on minivan in Tamil Nadu | Chennai News – Times of India

ERODE: Three people died and three others sustained injuries when a sugarcane-laden truck fell on a minivan on the Dhimbam Ghat Road in Erode district of Tamil Nadu on Tuesday.
The deceased have been identified as N Kumar, 60, of Nambiyur, I Chennaiyan, 55, of Indianpalayam and K Selvam, 50, of Kanjanaickenur.
The injured have been identified as M Selvam, 60, of Moolakinaru, P Soundarraj, 60, of Moolakinaru and S Manohar, 50, of Erode.
The accident happened when they were going to a temple in Nanjangud in Karnataka. Kumar was driving the minivan.
When the minivan neared the 27th hairpin bend of the Dhimbam Ghat Road, a sugarcane-laden truck that came from the opposite direction fell on it. “All the six people were stuck in the mangled remains of the minivan,” Thalavadi police inspector S Selvam said.
Personnel from Thalavadi and Hasanur police stations reached the spot.
The injured were sent the Government Medical College and Hospital in Perundurai. Their condition was said to be stable.
Thalavadi police registered a case.
