Three Held For Selling Pills, Sedatives To Youths | Coimbatore News – Times of India

Coimbatore: Three youths, including a college student, were arrested on Sunday for possession of pain killers and sedatives for sales on Marudhamalai Road. Police also seized 40 pills from them.
The RS Puram police identified the arrested as T Niranjan, 23, M Mathiyazhagan, 20, and R Hariharan, 19, all from Vadavalli in the city. Police said Niranjan is already facing four cases, including ganja and theft cases.Mathiyazhagan is also accused in a ganja case and another one for causing nuisance. Hariharan, however, is a second year BSc (computer science) student in a government-aided college in the city.
RS Puram police special sub-inspector Srinivasan, grade-I police constable Guna and grade-II police constable Marisamy were on rounds found the three standing on the roadside in a suspicious manner. Police found the painkillers and sedatives when they checked them.
Preliminary inquiry revealed that the three sold the pills to youths, who converted it into injections, and used it to get high. Police registered a case under sections 8 (c), 22 (a) and 29 (1) of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. They were arrested and remanded in judicial custody. Further investigation is on.
