Throwback: When Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger hated each other – Times of India

Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger were once arch acting rivals, but have ended up being friends for life. The two heavyweights crossed paths at the 1977 during the Golden Globe ceremony and were reportedly known for their verbal attacks on each other’s action movies.
However, that’s in the past now, with Sylvester Stallone and ArnoldSchwarzenegger sharing the frame in The Expendables 2 and 3 and Escape Plan.Speaking about their bond over the years, Stallone had told Entertainment Tonight, “I try to find laughs when they’re not in abundance. Sometimes it gets a little irritating and people tell me, shut up. It’s like with me and Arnold. We have this caustic sense of humor, and we go at each other nonstop. I almost covet a good enemy. He really brings out the best of you. [Back in the day], we couldn’t breathe the same air. But that made us work harder. And then we eventually realized we’re pretty much cut from the same cloth — even though his cloth is more like itchy wool. I’m like silk.”
The two stalwarts loathed each other and couldn’t stand each other’s presence. Indulging in blows, Stallone’s villain in Rocky IV was reportedly inspired from Schwarzenegger while the latter made fun of Rambo in his movie, Twins.
