Earlier this week, Jennifer Mistry confirmed winning the sexual harassment case against Asit Modi when she revealed that the court verdict was out on February 15, 2024.

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah producer Asit Kumarr Modi had initially refused to compensate Jennifer Mistry citing “financial losses”. In a recent interview, Jennifer talked about winning the sexual harassment case against Modi when she recalled meeting the producer during one of the court hearings. She claimed that at first, Asit refused to pay her compensation and asked if she was “influenced” by Shailesh Lodha.

“I met Asit Modi twice during the Posh hearings. Initially, he ignored me, preoccupied with impressing committee members, boasting about the Taarak Mehta unit being his family and claiming to ‘care about Jennifer’,” Jennifer told E-Times.

“However, during the second hearing, he stated he wouldn’t compensate me, citing financial losses. He even questioned if I was being influenced by Shailesh Lodha and Malav Rajda, accusing them of incitement. He went on to name others, but upon suspecting I might be recording our conversation, he demanded my phone be checked, to which my husband rightfully responded, ‘That’s none of your business’,” the actress added.

Jennifer Mistry used to play the role of Mrs Roshan Sodhi in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. However, she left the show in 2023 and later filed a complaint against Asit Kumarr Modi, the show’s Project Head Sohail Ramani and executive producer Jatin Bajaj for alleged sexual harassment at the workplace. The three were booked under sections 354 and 509 (Assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Earlier this week, Jennifer confirmed winning the sexual harassment case when she revealed that the court verdict was out on February 15, 2024. Announcing the verdict in favour of Jennifer, the court ordered Asit Kumarr Modi to clear her outstanding dues and further asked him to pay her Rs 5 lakh as compensation. However, no punishment was announced for Sohail and Jatin.

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is one of the most popular television sitcoms which has been running successfully for over 15 years now.
