Transmission fee waiver for offshore wind, GH2 projects – Times of India

New Delhi: The government has extended a 25-year inter-state transmission tariff waiver to offshore wind generation projects for renewable energy as well as green energy. hydrogen and ammonia units, a move that would encourage emerging sources of green energy to level the field alongside solar power.
order issued by ministry of power said on Monday that the exemption would be available for wind power projects operational till December 31, 2032. Projects started after this date will get partial relaxation as per the time table.
Projects commissioned between January 2033 and December 2034 will have to pay 25% of the inter-state transmission charges. 25% on ongoing projects between January 2034 and December 2035, 75% on ongoing projects between January 2035 and December 2036. From January 2037, full fee will have to be paid on ongoing projects.
Green hydrogen or ammonia projects commissioned by December 2030 will not have to pay any inter-state transmission charges for using electricity from solar, wind, large hydro units commissioned after March 8, 2019.
Transmission charges will also be waived off in case of green hydrogen or ammonia units using power from pumped storage or battery storage plants. Green hydrogen and ammonia projects commissioned after December 2030 will be given partial exemption as per subsequent commissioning dates.
Projects commissioned between January 2030 and December 2031 will be charged 25% of the applicable transmission levy. Projects commissioned between January 2033 and December 2034 will have to pay 50% of the levy, projects coming on stream between January 2034 and December 2035 will have to pay 75% of the levy and units commissioned after this date will pay 100% have to pay.
