Treasury officer held for accepting bribe of Rs 6,000 in Raigad | Thane News – Times of India

RAIGAD: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has taken a treasury officer into custody for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 6,000 from a retired government employee in Maharashtra’s Raigad district.
The accused, identified as Maruti Ramchandra Pawar, is said to have solicited the bribe from the complainant, Kashibai Tukaram Mahabale, a retired health department worker aged 62.
The bribe was allegedly connected to the release of Rs 45,000 as part of Mahabale’s gratuity payment, as stated by an official source.
Upon Pawar’s demand for Rs 6,000 to facilitate the gratuity payment, Mahabale decided to approach the ACB. In response, the anti-corruption agency set up a sting operation, leading to Pawar’s arrest while he was in the process of accepting the money from Mahabale on Friday, as detailed by the official.
Subsequently, a local court has remanded Pawar to police custody until September 19.
