Tribal girl sexually assaulted in AP’s Mangalagiri

The Mangliri police have detained two men for allegedly sexually assaulting an 11-year-old Scheduled Tribe girl in Mangalagiri town in the state capital Amaravati limits. Mangalagiri Town Circle Police Inspector Ankamma Rao told Hindu That an accused named Laxman and his friend were involved in the crime. Police said that one of the two accused is the brother-in-law of the victim.

Mr. Ankamma Rao said that the accused persons repeatedly raped the girl for several weeks. But the victim did not report the incident out of fear. The police started investigating the matter after the victim’s parents lodged a complaint.

The Circle Inspector further informed that the matter is being investigated under the POSCO Act.

The girl is being treated in the hospital.
