Berhampur: Forest officials on Monday detained at least three people allegedly involved in killing an elephant and extracting its teeth in the Kanduribari forest area. Marijuana District Seoni.

“We suspect that the same hunters may be involved in this case. They may have killed it with the help of the local people tracking the movement of the herd of elephants,” said PK Mishra, regional chief conservator of forests (RCCF), Berhampur.
At least seven people have been arrested for killing elephants in Boudh so far, he said. “We have started the investigation and the poachers will be arrested soon,” he said.
