A shocking case has come to light from Mangaluru, Karnataka, where 25-year-old Varun Nayak from Udupi tried to rob money from his own parents by pretending to be kidnapped. All this planning was done by Varun and his friends in Goa. On receiving the complaint of the case, the police arrested Varun and his friends from Goa on Tuesday. Varun was first produced in a local court, after which he was sent to judicial custody.

According to the police, Varun Nayak was addicted to gambling. He had gone for a walk with friends in Goa and planned to pretend kidnapping with his friends there. Varun calls his parents from his friends’ mobile phones and tells them that some people have kidnapped him. Kidnappers are demanding Rs 5 lakh as ransom.

Varun’s parents heard the news of their son’s kidnap. Filed a complaint at Udupi Town Police Station. Police started investigation in the matter. During this Varun’s phone was traced. The police got information that the location of the phone was telling Goa and only then the team reached Goa. Varun and his friends, who were partying here, were arrested by the police from a casino in the middle of the Mandovi river.

Varun and his friends were brought to Udupi, where during police interrogation he confessed that the story was hatched to take money from his parents. Some local people told that earlier Varun had left his studies midway. He was unemployed.
