Twitter’s rebranding for X begins with Profiles

The rebranding was confirmed earlier this week and the changes have now started rolling out to public profiles.

Twitter is now slowly making way for new X branding across the platform. The official Twitter handle has been changed to X with a new X profile picture. Elon Musk has also changed his profile picture on Twitter as the company looks to overhaul the micro-blogging platform’s wholesale branding this week.

Earlier on Monday, Twitter CEO Lina Yakarina wrote: “X is the future state of limitless interactivity – centered in audio, video, messaging, payments/banking – creating a global marketplace for ideas, goods, services and opportunities. Powered by AI, X will connect us all in ways we have only just begun to imagine,” he tweeted.

The new logo is just another change Musk is making to Twitter and it’s definitely the biggest change since he took the reins of the platform. Musk bought Twitter last year in a $44 billion deal, after which he oversaw a massive restructuring of the company that saw all senior executives move out.

He also set strict rules for the employees, forcing them to work long hours, report to the office, and meet tight deadlines to meet the release of new features. They have also brought Twitter Blue subscription to more countries, charging a premium to use features like edit tweet button, verified badge for accounts, unlimited profile viewing on Twitter.

Those who have been following Musk over the years know his association with the X word. It dates back to his early days as a tech entrepreneur, when he had an aspiration to start an online banking company with the X branding in 1999. His experience at Scotiabank had convinced him that the industry was ready for disruption. So in March 1999, he founded X.com. Tweeples can expect more changes to the app in the coming days.
