Twitter rival Threads will soon launch new features. check details

For the time being, Threads is launched without ads

More than 30 million people have signed up for Threads within the first few hours of launch. Meta-owned Threads is by far the biggest challenger to Elon Musk-owned Twitter. The app went live on the Apple and Android app stores on Wednesday at 2300 GMT in nearly 100 countries. Despite sporadic reports of temporary glitches, Threads continues to attract millions of users to the social media platform.

As per the recent updates, Threads will introduce new features soon. Some members of the Meta team have spilled the beans. In a post on Threads, Instagram Product Manager Tom Bender wrote, “We haven’t even launched the cool stuff yet.”

“Tom, at the risk of sounding like a broken record, you all need to add 8ball pool to this app. I’m absolutely serious – this alone would kill Twitter,” said another user, presumably on the meta team. There is too, answered.

At this, Tom reveals that his colleague, Brain Watterson, created the design and pitch for playing 8 ball pole on the application. He wrote, “Believe it or not, @bryansw Designed and pitched it.”

Brian Watterson, who designed the Threads interface, said he still believes “long-pressing on the logo could trigger a community 8 ball or pong with global leaderboards.”

“Still feels like long-pressing on the logo can start community 8ball or pong with global leaderboards. Honk the horn if you want it,” he replied.

Soon after his thread, several users wrote “Horn” in the comments urging Brian to move forward with his idea.

“Yes please,” responded another.

“Oh my god…it’ll really happen (fire emoji)

On threads, users can post text, links, images as well as videos. They reply to or repost others’ messages. The application allows users to port their existing follower lists and account names from Instagram, Meta’s photo and video-sharing platform with a 2 billion user base of major brands, celebrities and creators.

For now, Threads has been launched without advertising, as the focus is on getting more and more people excited about the product.
