According to reports, Twitter employees were informed about the decision to leave the CapitaGreen building and work from home via email.

Singapore serves as the headquarters of Twitter in the Asia-Pacific region.

Platformer’s Casey Newton said in a tweet on Thursday that “Twitter employees were bused out of its Singapore office – the Asia-Pacific headquarters – for non-payment of rent”.

“The landlords kicked the employees out of the building,” he posted.

In the US, Twitter has been sued because it failed to pay $136,250 in rent for its office space in San Francisco.

According to a complaint filed by landlord Columbia Rite, Twitter is late on the rent at 650 California Street on the edge of Chinatown, USA Today reported.

The lawsuit was filed on December 29 in state court in San Francisco.

The company’s headquarters are located at 1355 Market Street, where Twitter is reportedly also behind on rent.

Musk turned the rooms at the Twitter headquarters into tiny bedrooms, complete with old mattresses, drab curtains and giant work monitors.

Beds were prepared for the remaining “hardcore” employees to be able to stay overnight in the office.

Sources told Forbes that there were probably “four to eight such rooms per floor” at the Twitter headquarters.

Twitter was also sued for refusing to pay for two charter flights in December 2022.
