In the complaint lodged with the Kashimira police, the two engineers said that contrary to his allegation that the house was demolished before the monsoon, no demolition has taken place so far.
The complaint states that the authorities had planned to demolish the illegal shanty of Rajeev Kumar Singh in Penkar Pada area of Pandurang Wadi on June 14, but no action was taken after a phone call from MLA Jain.
On June 20, the MLA had asked Assistant Commissioner Sachin Bachav to come for a site visit, and he had deputed two engineers as he was busy, it said.
However, the MLA quarreled with him, manhandled him and even slapped Patil, the complaint demanded action against him.
Singh’s house was not demolished, the complaint said, alleging that he and his mother had been allotted alternate houses in 2018, which they had given on rent and were living in an illegal shanty.
PTI quoted the police as saying that no First Information Report has been registered in the matter so far.
The legislator, who is an independent MLA supporting the ruling Shiv Sena-BJP alliance in Maharashtra, told a news channel on Tuesday evening that she did not regret her action.
In a letter to the Municipal Commissioner, Jain demanded the suspension of the two civic engineers, accusing them of demolishing Singh’s house on June 16 and throwing his children and wife out of the house.
They violated the government’s directive that such demolitions should not be carried out during monsoon, he claimed.
