Two Coaches From Portugal To Train Gujarat’s Young Footballers | Vadodara News – Times of India

Vadodara: Football players from the city will soon learn dribbling skills from the Portuguese coaches.
In a first, two Portuguese coaches from the famed SL Benfica club will be camping in Gujarat to coach the aspiring footballers.
The Baroda Football Academy (BFA) has organized a football camp from April 22 to April 26 in the city. “Young footballers keen to learn playing skills from foreign coaches have to spend lakhs for touring Portugal and attending training camps there. So, we decided to bring the Portuguese coaches to Gujarat so that youngsters can get maximum benefit,” said Sandip Desai founder and secretary, BFA.
“Tomas Duarte and Andre Ferreira from SL Benfica coach the students. They both hold Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) B licences for football coaches. The players will acquire football skills at a very lower fee than they would have spent on foreign tours,” Desai, who is also the grass root development committee member of the All India Football Federation, added.
The camp based on registrations is being held jointly with Navrachana International School, Bhayli and Delhi Public School, Kalali. The Portuguese coaches will also train the local coaches and give them important tips about training young players. Our goal is to improve the quality of the game and inspire youngsters to take up the sport.
The football camp will then be held in Surat from April 29 to May 3. The football fraternity in the state hopes that these camps will improve the game of the players and produce quality footballers.
