Addressing a rally in Dalu block of West Garo Hills, he said that the time has come to free Meghalaya from these two families and bring the BJP to power under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday alleged that the two families that ruled Meghalaya for years did nothing for the state and filled their coffers with money meant for the poor.

Addressing a rally in Dalu block of West Garo Hills, he said that the time has come to free Meghalaya from these two families and bring the BJP to power under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Meghalaya has been ruled by two families for years. Mukul Sangma ruled the state for many years, while the family of Conrad Sangma also remained in power for many years. Nothing happened in the state. What did these two families do? Shah asked.

“Both these families indulged in corruption and filled their coffers with the money of the poor. Time has come to free Meghalaya from these two families and bring BJP to power.

Shah alleged that the Konrad Sangma government was blocking the funds being sent by the Center for the development of the state.

“Don’t you think the corruption he did over the years should be investigated?” He told a huge crowd.

Listing out the development initiatives taken by the BJP government in Assam, he said similar development would happen in Meghalaya if the BJP is voted to power.

The BJP, which was part of the Conrad Sangma-led MDA government in the state, broke the alliance ahead of the polls and is contesting all 60 assembly seats.

Appealing to the people to change the government, Shah said that the BJP would ensure the prosperity and development of the state.

Mukul Sangma, who was in Congress, has now brought TMC here. TMC rules West Bengal, which is plagued by ‘cut-money’, cross-border infiltration and corruption. You live near Bangladesh border, tell me will infiltration increase or decrease if TMC comes here? he asked the crowd.

If you want to stop the infiltration, then bring the Modi government here as well. No intruder will be able to set foot in Meghalaya.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also addressed the rally.

Meghalaya will go to polls on February 27 and the counting of votes will take place on March 2.
