THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Aiyarur police arrested two more people on Friday on charges of murder Leela Mani During a quarrel related to a property dispute in Varkala on July 16.

The arrested men have been identified by the police as 45-year-old Shaji and 38-year-old Ahad. Shaji is the first accused in the case and Ahad is the second accused.
The arrested men were the brothers-in-law of the deceased woman and were arrested from the railway station while coming back from Chennai to surrender.

Earlier on Monday, the fourth accused in the case, 34-year-old woman Rahina, was arrested. The third accused in the case, Muhsin, is still absconding and the police is on the lookout for him. Shaji, Ahad and Muhsin were brothers of Leela Mani’s late husband and the murder took place over a dispute related to partition of ancestral property.
The accused had locked Leela Mani and her relative Sarasu in a room in their house and assaulted them with iron rods. Leela Mani, 54, later succumbed to her injuries and Sarsu is still undergoing treatment.
