Coimbatore: A court In Tirupur Within 28 days of being caught for stealing a motorcycle, two men were sentenced to three years’ rigorous imprisonment.
Balaji, 26, of Kurinji Nagar Extension 3rd Street in Tiruppur city parked his motorcycle in front of his house on the night of May 14, 2023. Next morning he found that the motorcycle was missing. They lodged a complaint with the Tiruppur South Police which registered a case against unknown persons under section 379 of the Indian Penal Code.
The police arrested R Vignesh, 21, and K Harikrishnan, 20. Sivagangai On May 16, the stolen motorcycle was recovered after raiding the district. Both were sent to judicial custody. Police Sub-Inspector Gunasekaran and team filed the charge sheet before the Judicial Magistrate and the trial began immediately.
Magistrate Palanikumar of the Judicial Magistrate-II court on Monday pronounced the verdict and sentenced the two to three years’ rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on each of them.
Tiruppur City Police Commissioner Praveen Kumar Abhinappu appreciated police sub-inspector Gunasekaran, Grade-I police constables Manimekalai and Anithraj for taking necessary steps for a speedy trial.
