Two Rob Jeweller At Gunpoint, Arrested | Gurgaon News – Times of India

Gurgaon: Police on Monday arrested two men who had tried to rob a jeweller at gunpoint in Sector 40 on March 10.
The accused, Sandeep (23) from Jhajjar and Anup (19) from Firozabad, were arrested in Faridabad on Sunday night. The duo have been taken into police custody for two days.
On the night of March 10, Niraj Soni, a resident of Sector 31 —who runs a jewellery store in South City 1’s Moti Vihar—lodged a complaint at Sector 40 police station stating that two masked men had barged into his shop around 8.40 pm and tried to rob him at gunpoint.
“I chased the robbers and managed to snatch the backpack containing stolen articles from them. The duo had to abandon their bike and escape from the scene as locals had started to approach them,” said Soni.
Based on his complaint, an FIR was registered under sections 392 (robbery) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Arms Act on the same day.
“During investigation, it was found that the duo previously worked as marketing executives in Agra, where they got acquainted. Subsequently, they came to Gurgaon in Feb 2024 in search of work. While moving into the Moti Vihar area, they noticed Soni staying alone in his shop till late at night and planned to rob him,” said ACP (crime) Varun Dahiya.
“The duo confessed that the country-made firearm used by them, was purchased from Agra, and the bike was stolen from Sector 53, a few days before the robbery attempt,” said the ACP.
“We have to recover the firearm and arrest its supplier. The accused will be produced before the court for judicial remand on Tuesday,” said an officer.
