Two Take To Crime To Fund Lavish Lifestyle, Arrested | Lucknow News – Times of India

Lucknow: To lead a lavish lifestyle, two persons, running a kiosk selling sweets, decided to enter the crime world. However, their bid to earn easy money led them to jail as they were arrested on Thursday for committing a robbery in the city recently.
The accused, identified as Shivam Singh (27) and Jitendra Pal (42), have confessed their role in the crime.
“As Shivam and Jitendra were not satisfied with their earnings they decided to enter the crime world,” said deputy commissioner of police, north, Qasim Abidi.
“Shivam had met Jitendra in a jail for the first time and both of them decided to form a gang. They were involved in several theft and robbery cases,” the DCP added.
While two cases were registered against Shivam in the Gomtinagar and Ghazipur (Indiranagar) police stations, the Alambagh and Ghazipur police have registered two and one cases respectively against Jitendra.
On January 18, a chain-snatching was reported from Ghazipur area in which an elderly woman Priti Srivastava was deprived of her gold chain. A police team was set up by the DCP north to nab the accused.
After getting a tip-off that Shivam and Jitendra were involved in the crime the police launched a manhunt and succeeded in arresting both of them from Banda Road on Thursday.
“A gold chain and a bike were recovered from them,” the DCP said, adding that during the interrogation they told the police that the bike belonged to Shivam and he was still paying EMI for it. Abidi said that Shivam had purchased the bike three years ago and as he was finding it difficult to clear its payment he decided to set up a gang and asked Jitendra to join it. “Both of them were also planning to visit Bangkok and Singapore,” he added.
