Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann met party convener and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal in Tihar jail on Monday

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday met Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal with “tears in his eyes” inside jail number 2 of the Tihar prison complex, sources reported. Detailing the meet with the jailed Delhi CM, AAP leader and Rajya Sabha member Sandeep Pathak informed that Mann met Kejriwal through an ‘uncleaned glass window’.

“The glass was not clean. Kejriwal’s face was not clearly visible to us. We spoke to him over the phone,” Pathak said revealing details regarding Bhagwant Mann’s visit to Kejriwal in Tihar.

“When Chidambaram was in jail, Congress leader Sonia Gandhi used to meet him in jail. Face-to-face meetings were allowed. Then why, Kejriwal is not allowed to talk to us,” he added.

What’s His fault? Asks Bhagwant Mann

Talking to the reporters after meeting Kejriwal, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said, “It was very sad to see that he isn’t getting the basic facilities which are available even to hardcore criminals. What’s his fault? You’re treating him as if you have caught one of the biggest terrorists in the country.”

“Arvind Kejriwal who is ‘Kattar Imaandaar‘ (Honest), who started the politics of transparency and ended the BJP’s politics is being treated like this. When I asked about how he has been doing, he said forget about me tell me how things are going in Punjab? Because we do the politics of ‘work’,” Mann said, adding, “AAP is a disciplined group, we all are together and standing firm with Arvind Kejriwal.”

Arvind Kejriwal is currently lodged in Tihar jail after being arrested for his alleged role in the money laundering case linked to the Delhi liquor policy on March 21.

No Relief to Kejriwal

In a major setback for Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the Supreme Court on Monday postponed the plea of Kejriwal on the week commencing from April 29. The top court further asked the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to file its response on or before April 24.

Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi appearing for Kejriwal told the Supreme Court that the arrest was made to disable him from campaigning.

The apex court’s decision came in response to the plea filed by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal challenging his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and his subsequent remand in connection with the alleged now-scrapped Delhi liquor policy case.
