No irrigation water for Rabi crop in Krishna, NTR districts
Authorities have decided not to supply water for Rabi crop this season in view of the drought conditions prevailing across the state. This decision is a blow to farmers in Krishna and NTR districts, where paddy is the staple crop. The region relies on irrigation water from the Krishna eastern main canal of Prakasam barrage, but due to the drought, water cannot be provided. Officials have suggested that farmers cultivate crops like black gram, chilli, and toor dal, which consume less water.
