Unseasonal Rain Lashes Parts Of Guj | Vadodara News – Times of India

Vadodara: Amid blistering heat, several parts of north and central Gujarat received unseasonal rainfall with some places witnessing hail too on Thursday. Wet weather prevailed in Bhiloda taluka of Arvalli, parts of Banaskantha near Ambaji, Dahod and Chhota Udepur districts.
Two persons were injured when lightning struck them in a village near Dahod in the evening.Parts of Dahod district received rainfall with winds even as hail also fell in a village. The weather suddenly changed in these regions in the morning and squally winds brought down hoardings and trees at some places in Dahod and Chhota Udepur.
Parts of Dahod district, including Dahod town, witnessed heavy rain with thunderstorms in the evening. The climate had started changing in these parts of the district from Thursday afternoon. Sources said that the weather department had given a forecast of unseasonal rain in the district.
In Sabrada village of Dahod taluka, two persons were struck by lightning in the evening. The residents of the village called up 108 emergency services ambulance that rushed the duo to a hospital in Dahod town.
The intensity of the winds was such that solar panels along with the steel structure came off from the roof of a hospital and fell on the ground. Two-wheelers parked on the street were damaged. There was no traffic as the road had been closed for work.
Hail fell in Mirakhedi village of Jhalod taluka in the district. Rainfall with heavy winds was also reported in Jhalod, Limdi and Fatepura in Dahod district.
Kawant taluka in Chhota Udepur district received a spell of rain. The sky was overcast in parts of Chhota Udepur district since the morning and within a few hours, it started raining there.
An IMD bulletin stated that light thunderstorms with lighting and surface wind gusting up to 30-40 kmph were very likely at isolated places in the districts of the Bharuch, Surat, Navsari, and Valsad and the Gir-Somnath and Kutch in Saurashtra, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Dahod, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Dahod and Mahisagar for three days beginning Saturday.
The change in weather is attributed to a cyclonic circulation lying over adjoining south-west Rajasthan, IMD national forecast bulletin stated.
