As soon as the SP-RLD alliance entered the battleground of the municipal elections, a brawl started. Both SP and RLD have fielded their candidates on various seats. The surprising thing is that at this time no one is ready to back down. On the other hand, RLD has announced to field its candidate for the post of Mayor in Meerut Municipal Corporation, whereas here also SP has declared its candidate.
There was an alliance of SP-RLD in the assembly elections 2022. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and RLD president Jayant Chaudhary campaigned heavily, especially in western UP. It was announced that this alliance will run in the municipal elections as well.
Even before the elections, RLD state president Ramsheesh Rai had announced in Baraut that RLD would contest the body elections on its own, so there was an uproar in both RLD and SP.
RLD has clarified this matter from Delhi and said that a joint committee of RLD and SP will choose the candidate and the alliance will fight the elections together. Now that the elections have come, the rift between the two has come to the fore. SP and RLD have declared their candidates on many seats.
