Uttar Pradesh government set to implement scientific approach to diagnose road accidents | Lucknow News – Times of India

LUCKNOW: Aiming to identify the underlying causes of road accidents, the Uttar Pradesh government has taken an initiative and will accordingly formulate systematic strategies on scientific basis.
The ‘Uttar Pradesh Road Crash Investigation Scheme‘ aims to make a scientific and analytical investigation mandatory in each case of road accident involving death of three or more people.
The approach will enable authorities to chalk out strategies on that basis.
This decision follows a significant number of road accidents in Uttar Pradesh in 2022, with 41,746 incidents resulting in 22,595 fatalities and 28,541 injuries.
Last week, the UP cabinet approved setting up a committee to investigate the cause of road accidents that report more than three casualties.
The committees will suggest ways to control road accidents and help victims and their families claim insurance on time and without hassles.
The committee will also help victims and their family members claim insurance in case of road accidents, minister of state for transport (independent charge) Dayashankar Singh had said.
Last year saw 1,368 more deaths compared to the number of fatalities reported in the state in 2021.
