Uttar Pradesh: Headmaster arrested for molesting 16 girl students in Unnao | Kanpur News – Times of India

KANPUR: Headmaster of a co-educational school in Sikandarpur Sarosi area of Unnao has been arrested on charges of molesting 16 girl students of the school.
The matter came to light when the girls lodged a complaint on the portal of National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR). Taking cognizance of it, NCPCR member Preeti Bhardwaj Dalal visited the school for a probe and recorded the statements of the alleged survivors and prime facie found the charges against the accused, Rajesh, true.
The headmaster has been booked under the Pocso Act and molestation charges under the IPC, following a complaint lodged by the cook of the school, Ruby Devi. The district’s basic education officer has suspended the accused.
A three-member team headed by a basic education officer-level officer is further investigating the case.
Additional superintendent of police Shashishekhar Singh said, “The headmaster, who was absconding since the FIR was registered, was arrested on Monday.”
A total of 169 students, including 86 girls, are enrolled at the school.
