VARANASI: Upset over the defeat of Samajwadi Party candidates in Azamgarh and Rampur Lok Sabha bypolls, SP alliance partner Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) chief Om Prakash Rajbhar on Tuesday questioned SP chief Akhilesh Yadav’s absence from campaigning on the ground. Rajbhar himself campaigned fiercely for SP candidate Dharmendra Yadav in Azamgarh.
“The battle cannot be fought from air-conditioned rooms. The commander should lead the force from the front. The SP chief should take a lesson from his father,” Rajbhar said.
“As per my calculations, there are three major reasons for the defeat: delay in announcing candidates for Azamgarh and Rampur seats, decision of the commander to lead the team instead of getting down on the ground to manage the election from the AC room and Bahujan Samaj Party’s action Rajbhar said that ensure the defeat of SP and victory of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Rajbhar said, “When Akhilesh decided to leave the LS to remain in the UP assembly, he should have announced the candidate 10 days after his resignation from the Parliament. The candidate could have stayed in the fray to mobilize voters. After the exercise, the SP chief was enjoying somewhere else while the BJP fielded its candidate.”
Instead of taking lessons from his father and SP patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav, who campaigned and held public meetings in every assembly constituency even in the by-elections, Akhilesh did not think it necessary to come out of the AC room and campaign in any seat. He said, “Any train is pulled by the engine and not pushed by the bogies to run it. If the engine operates at full capacity, some bogies with broken bearings and damaged wheels will also be pulled to their destination. How can the train run when the engine is not running?
Rajbhar said, “Let him (Akhilesh) return from Delhi, freed from presidential election work, and I will ask him if he will field,” he said, adding that “everyone has to realize that voters are no longer bonded labourers.” ” Now, each family has supporters of different ideologies and political parties. It would be possible to mobilize the majority of voters in favor of one party only by going among them.
